Former Artists-in-Residence Jiha Moon and Shahzia Sikander imbued ancient techniques with a contemporary perspective to capture the past and the present in their highly detailed works. Experience these artists’ visions in our current exhibitions, Workshop As… and Narrative Terrain: Landscape as Storytelling, and explore the process materials from their artist boxes in our archives. Then head to our studio to learn the ancient technique of Suminagashi—Japanese paper marbling.

Summer Skill Building Series
Enhance your studio or teaching practice with this five-week summer skill building series. Each week, we’ll glean inspiration from works on view in current exhibitions or from artist boxes in our archives to learn a new skill to use in the classroom or your own personal art practice.
