Truce Flag Woven Pattern Workshop

Spend an afternoon with FWM Studio artists and learn the historic weaving process used to create the Confederate Flag of Truce. Studio guides will offer instruction and assistance in the gallery using Reconstruction Exercise, Sonya Clark’s participatory installation featuring a series of floor looms threaded specifically to create the flag’s waffle weave pattern. Following instruction in the gallery, participants will return to the studios to begin weaving on “take-home” tapestry hand looms. All participants will leave with a loom and the knowledge they need to spark their own weaving practice!
