Funori Seaweed Screenprints

June 12, 2024
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Photograph of a gestural floral painting with a light blue watery background. You can see the flat, thick paintbrush and a clear, round tupperware lid being used for a paint palette in the foreground.
Samples prepared by FWM Education Department. Photo credit: Carlos Avendaño.

FWM is experimenting with seaweed as an eco-friendly alternative for screenprinting. Experiment with us by creating a hand painted resist with funori paste on a blank screen, then screenprint your own design with plant-based ink onto paper.

Summer Skill Building Series
Enhance your studio or teaching practice with a focus on sustainability. Each week, we’ll find inspiration in works on view and explore new materials to use in the classroom or your own personal art practice.
