Would learning how to design and print your own custom fabric elevate your business, creative practice, or next body of work?

Developed for artists, designers, and creative entrepreneurs, this intensive two-day master class offers the rare opportunity to learn professional textile screenprinting techniques in The Fabric Workshop and Museum’s print studio. Working alongside our master educators and printers, you’ll gain hands-on experience with the same processes FWM has used to produce custom textiles for Artists-in-Residence since 1977.

Over the course of the weekend, you’ll build a foundation in two-way repeat pattern design, expressive mark making, screen exposure, and ink application techniques including monoprinting and split fountain. Beyond creating a finished textile, you’ll develop practical skills and technical knowledge you can continue to apply in your own studio or professional practice.

Participants will create a repeatable 30″ x 50” one-color design, mix a custom ink color, and print up to four yards on cotton sateen fabric. You’ll leave with professionally printed custom fabric, a deeper understanding of textile screenprinting, and the confidence to incorporate repeating pattern design and fabric printing into future projects. All materials will be provided.

This workshop takes place over two sessions, September 12 and 13, running from 12–5 PM each day.
