About the Participants

A portrait of Thomas Rowe, a young white man with dark hair and a beard seated in an artist's studio. Thomas Rowe is a textile artist and sewing instructor based in Philadelphia, PA. A graduate of the Made Institute, he debuted his graduate collection at Philly Fashion Week 2022. Rowe returns to his up-cycling roots with CHRYSALIS, an upcycled clothing brand that stands to change wasteful practices in the fashion industry by utilizing readily available materials such as reclaimed garments and deadstock fabric. With an ethos of taking forgotten or overlooked fabric to create something new, CHRYSALIS clothing avoids the wasteful practice of sending stock to landfills or incinerators, taking another small step towards a sustainable, greener future.
