Junk Drawer Sound Machines

January 9, 2026
5:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Different pieces of forgotten found objects like keys, bread ties, rocks, paper clips and more spread out as if they are falling out of a screenprinted paper box onto a drawn illustration of a blank sheet of music.

Both Moki Cherry and Lisa Alvarado create artworks that reflect and resonate with the music around them. They also use found materials and draw inspiration from where they are and who they’re with. Learn to use expressive mono printing techniques to create your own sound print. Then, scour your basements and junk drawers for small objects that create interesting sounds. Fold or roll your sound print into a shape that can hold your sound materials and start making your own music!
