On Small Business Saturday, join artist Kalila Jones for an in-store pop-up featuring a fall collection of crocheted hats. Shop the artist’s hand-crafted creations including berets, beanies, and ruffle bucket hats stylized with mixed fiber to look like creatures both real and imagined.

In her broader practice, Kalila uses yarn, found textiles, hair accessories, and craft supplies to make textile garments and sculptures that evoke feelings of joy and nostalgia. Connect with her in-person as she shares her process of creating winter wearables.

About the Participants

A Black artist, Kalila Jones, sits below a mannequin with arms resting across their knees. They are wearing a crochet hat with many layers of colors, a black and purple long sleeve garment, and white sneakers. On the mannequin, a colorful crochet garment features sculptural faces of cartoon-like characters.Raised in Philadelphia, Kalila Jones (she/they) has been enamored by the arts and culture of their hometown since a young age. She recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber and Material Studies with a concentration in Art Education at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art & Architecture in Philadelphia, PA. Through their practice as a studio artist and educator, Jones has explored how to integrate their love of fibers into the legacy of the art scene that she was raised alongside.
