British, born 1965, lives in Glasgow, Scotland
Christine Borland was born in Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland. She trained at the Glasgow School of Art, earning a BA in 1987, and at the University of Ulster in Belfast, where she received a graduate degree in art in 1988. Borland’s work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston (2002), and Skulptur Projekte III in Münster, Germany (1997). In 1997, she was a finalist for the coveted Turner Prize, sponsored by the Tate Gallery, London. The work created during Borland’s residency at the FWM toured in the United States and Canada as part of a solo exhibition organized by York University Art Gallery in Toronto (2000).
